Crystal Reports! Multiple columned sections problem...After playing around for days with Crystal Reports v.9 i came to a halt!
The task was to have a report which displays a section with multiple columns.
It is actually strange that Crystal has nothing like "best fit" for the reports.
It should actually be clever enough to best utilise the space on its own according to the number of data records returned!
To be a bit more specific I want to make the best out of my A4 sized page for my report.
To do this i had to have my data in a list of one (or maybe two) fields but only half the way down my page so i could use the rest for other displays.
So i thought i would split my list half way down and display it in more than one columns...
something like this:
Example:
Details P1___V1______E1___| P4___V4 ______E4
Details P2___V2______E3 __ | P5___V5 ______E5
Details P3___V3______E4 __ | P6___V6 ______E6
though this cannot be done!!!
unbelievable isn't it?Yes it is...But there is no way to make Crystal to multiple columns and calculate on its own when should it break the list and move on to the next...
The way to do this according to theory would be by formatting the details section to use "multiple columns", then, on the layout tab, choose to print records down and then
across.
But this doesn't do anything :(
feel free to post a comment or a possible solution!
please bear in mind that this might be the easiest thing to do and I that i never mentioned that it is a bug of the particular software...Maybe it is me who can't do it and not Crystal!
